The New and Improved SyncOnSet

Jennifer Sneider Updated by Jennifer Sneider

SyncOnSet 5.0 is full of exciting changes! You’ll notice a new layout, but all your production information remains intact.

New Navigation

Are you a member of multiple departments? View information across all your departments simultaneously using the Department Selector.

The Product Switcher helps to quickly navigate between the Continuity and Budgeting workflows. If you are working on an AssetHub-linked production, you can also navigate to AssetHub!

The Universal Search bar has been improved to help you find what you’re looking for more efficiently 🔍. Quickly access a Scene, Character, Actor, Change, Look, Set, Wrap Box, or Inventory right from the search results! Click the category header to limit your results to that category.

Episodic Productions

View multiple episodes simultaneously using the Episode Selector. Scene numbers show the episode number as a prefix to the Scene (e.g. 101.1, 102.15). Block shooting just got much easier!

NO MORE IMPORTING! 🙌🏻 In SyncOnSet 5.0, Characters, Actors, Sets, and Inventory are available across the entire production.

View the Character Index by selected episodes or see the entire list for the Full Season.

Scenes

Scene Index

The Scene Index is customizable! Click the Choose Columns button to individualize your view and see only the information you want. You can also rearrange, resize, and sort columns. Use the search bar at the top of the table or click the Filter button to further refine your view.

Clone a Scene to create an exact copy where all Characters, Costume Changes, Hair and Makeup Looks, Sets, and Props are replicated. If a Character has multiple Changes in one Scene, create a duplicate with the same Scene number and assign the new Change.

Scene View

Find the Scene description, Script Day, Shoot Date, Set, and general departmental notes in the Sidebar.

Photos tagged to the Scene appear in the photo carousel in the Sidebar. Use the dropdown to view photos for a specific department or episode. Upload photos in the Sidebar to automatically tag them to the Scene.

The Principal and Background Character tables display the Changes and Looks assigned to the Characters, along with Scene Wear/Look continuity notes.

Find Props assigned to Characters in the Scene and the continuity use notes in the Props table, which is also customizable! Click the Choose Columns button to individualize your view and see only the information you want. You can also rearrange, resize, and sort columns.

Characters

Background Characters can have different counts for each Scene, so you can create a background group once and then update the counts per Scene.

Character View

Find the Character description and general departmental notes in the Sidebar.

Photos tagged to the Character appear in the photo carousel in the Sidebar. Use the dropdown to view photos for a specific department. Upload photos in the Sidebar to automatically tag them to the Character.

The Scenes table displays the Costume Changes, Hair and Makeup Looks, and Props assigned to the Character for each Scene, as well as Scene Wear/Look continuity notes.

Toggle the view on the Props table to view either the Character’s full Prop Closet or just Personal Props. Click the Choose Columns button to customize your view and see only the information you want. You can also rearrange, resize, and sort columns.

Inventory

All Inventory departments (Costume, Props, and Set Dec) share the same Inventory workflow, from creating Inventory to Wrap.

Inventory Index

The Inventory Index is customizable!  Click the Choose Columns button to individualize your view and see only the information you want. You can also rearrange, resize, and sort columns. Use the search bar at the top of the table or click the Filter button to further refine your view.

Each department can now create Storage Locations, Custom Types/Categories, and Custom Statuses and assign them to Inventory.

Update multiple data fields at once using the Bulk Update feature. Depending on the Inventory department, you can update the Character Closet, Category/Type, Status, Storage Location, Wrap Box, Disposition, and Set.

For more information, see Managing Inventory.

Inventory View

Photos tagged to the Inventory appear in the photo carousel in the Sidebar. Upload photos in the Sidebar to automatically tag them to the Inventory.

View or edit Wrap Box information in the Sidebar. If you have multiples of the item, you can wrap them in different Wrap Boxes!

The Item Details card only shows fields that contain data for a streamlined view. Other fields are available and will populate the page if data is entered.

If the Inventory is from the Costume department, you see a Changes table showing all Changes containing the Inventory.

If the Inventory is from the Props department, you see a customizable Scenes table showing all Scenes containing the Inventory.

If the Inventory is from the Set Dec department, you see a customizable Sets table showing all Sets containing the Inventory, along with all Scenes for each Set.

Creating Inventory

When creating a new piece of Inventory, you can customize the Create Inventory form. Click the Gear icon in the form to choose which fields display, and you’ll also notice we’ve updated the available fields. Select only what you want so you aren’t distracted by fields you don’t care about.

When creating Inventory, you can now create a duplicate of the item, saving you time by not having to enter the same details twice. You can also note the quantity of an item and wrap multiples in different Wrap Boxes.

Wrap

Wrap Box Index

You can add a Box Description so you know what is wrapped in the box, a Storage Location so you can find the box, Pallet information, and a photo so you can see a picture of everything in the box.

Use the search bar at the top of the table to search Wrap Box information and easily locate the box you need.

Wrap Box View

Find the Wrap Box description, Storage Location, and Pallet information in the Sidebar. Upload a photo in the Sidebar to show the contents of the box.

You can now wrap multiples of Inventory in multiple Wrap Boxes using the Quantity in Box field of an Inventory item! For example, if you have 10 t-shirts, you can wrap 3 of 10 in Wrap Box 1, 4 of 10 in Wrap Box 2, and 3 of 10 and Wrap Box 3.

You can also create Inventory from the Wrap Box! If you find an item on set that was never entered in SyncOnSet, you can create it while you wrap.

The Costume department can view the contents of a Wrap Box either by Character or by Change. Changes wrapped in the box display in the Sidebar.

Photos

You can now upload photos on a Character View, Scene View, Change View, Look View, or Inventory View page and have the photos automatically tag to that entity.

You’ll find photo carousels for each department in the Sidebar on Scene View and Character View pages. Use the dropdown to select a department and view photos tagged to that Scene or Character.

New filters in the Gallery allow you to view photos by Shoot Date or Set, in addition to by Scene or Character.
